MLB Friday 9th

Welcome back to a small little preview of couple of selected MLB games to close out the working week. It’s been a nice couple of days working the profits back up. No coincidence that our rise in bank has matched the Diamondbacks and Rockies going back home. Books continue to under value the Colorado Rockies and it’s nice to get one over them. Not much stands out tomorrow however there are a couple of plays I think are worth a look.

Friday 9th
Best Bet –  Astros -1.5 $1.82  (1u)
Next Bet – o9.5 Nats/Orioles $2.00 (0.5u)
Double – Tigers/Pirates $2.75 (0.5u)

Washington Nationals vs Baltimore Orioles (9.05am AEST)

Nationals ($1.72) – Ross (2-2, 7.34 ERA)
Orioles ($2.17)  – Asher (2-3, 3.62 ERA)

Returning home after a pretty successful west coast trip the Nats welcome “local” rivals the Baltimore Orioles. They will be trusting the inconsistent Joe Ross to fill in this make up game. His work recently has been poor, he has a 6.19 ERA at home over 3 starts with a .343 BAA. The O’s will put up spot starter Alec Asher who has been ok in his 4 starts but his role is best served out of the pen in low stress relief. Both teams have a fair bit of power and the O’ have an ability to score late in games. Looks to be runs and while the 9.5 line may seem high for an NL game it’s about right, I think the price on the overs here may be too good to look away from. 6 of the O’s last 8 have gone over, while the Nats had a series in LA including a swing at Kershaw their home games tend to be on the higher end of the runs total. If you had to play the ML, The Orioles price is decent but I will take the totals.

Suggested Bet –  Over 9.5 Runs $2.00

Kansas City Royals vs Houston Astros (9.05am AEST)
Royals ($2.62) – Hammel (2-6, 5.93 ERA)
Astros ($1.50)  – McCullers (6-1, 2.71 ERA)

After having their winning streak snapped in dramatic fashion, the Royals managed to inflict the Astros with their 2nd straight loss. It will be the very impressive Lance McCullers given the task to get the Astros back on winning ways. Giving up only 5 runs combined in his last 6 starts. He pitched 7 strong against the Royals early in the season and if he can go that deep again the Astros will look very good to get him his 7th Win on the season. Houston have been hammering the ball lately and likely will do the same against a struggling Jason Hammel who has giving up 10 runs in his last 3 starts in only 16 total innings. In a field known for flyballs the power of the Astros could prove too much for Hammel who does have a penchant for giving up the odd dinger. Very short Houston here so have to play them on the RL.

Suggested Bet –  Astros to -1.5  $1.82

Other Games

Detroit Tigers vs Los Angeles Angels
Fulmer continues to pitch late into games and the Tigers are surprisingly a very good team this season with a nice home record and in a nice bit of form . Against an Angels team who are not at their best on the road. I’m pretty keen on Detroit to wrap up the series here, considering they have out hit LA in the last 2 games, just need to get those hits at the right time. Better team wins.

All Prices Quoted via Crown Bet at time of writing.

Hopefully your thoughts on the games match up with mine. As always these are only a select few games I was interested in, feel free to share your opinions on any games at @MLB_TheProfits on Twitter. Happy Punting.
