MLB Mid-Week 8 Preview & Bets

A little mid week preview of some nice games is just what the doctor ordered after some sluggish recent plays, however today was much better,  as the form was bang on.  However, I have blacklisted the Yankees for the 2nd time this season.

Straight to it then.

Thursday 22nd

Best Bet

Tigers -1.5

Next Best

Blue Jays to win

Suggested Multi

Tigers to win Mets/Dodgers over 7.5 at $3.35

Fun Large Multi (not official play)

Tigers -1.5, Cardinals -1.5 , Mets/Dodgers over 7.5 at $9.9

Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Indians  (2am AEST)

Tigers ($1.63) – Scherzer

Indians ($2.35) – McAllister

Over/Under  –  Over 7.5 ($1.92) Under 7.5 ($1.92)

Prediction

Tigers. I predict Detroit to avoid the sweep here. Scherzer has been money. Currently 6-1 with an ERA of 1.83. Last season on the way to winning the Cy Young award he went 3-0 with an ERA of 2.70 in 3 starts against the Indians. In his 9 starts Detroit have allowed an average of 2.1 runs a game. They need to win this as they can’t let a superb start to the season get derailed with a sweep. Cabrera has been hitting well of late and has registered a hit in each of his last 11 games driving in 14 RBI’s over that same period. Mc Allister after starting so well has gone 0-4 with an ERA of 8.72 in his last 5 starts. Getting pounded for 8 runs in just over 1 inning in his last start. See it being closer then his recent form suggests, however I’m confident Tigers can take this by a few runs.

Suggested Bet

Tigers -1.5  ($2.06)

Toronto Blue Jays vs Boston Red Sox  (9am AEST)

Blue Jays ($2.18)  – Hutchison

Red Sox ($1.72) – Buchholz

Over/Under  –  Over 9.0 ($2.10) Under 9.0 ($1.84)

Prediction

Blue Jays. Toronto still have some hot bats and the price on them to win this is too good to refuse considering they have won 6 out of their last 8.Boston have been struggling to score and their pitching has been sub par. Nowhere near their standard they set last season. Hutchison is coming off his first career shutout and has thrown a few impressive games this season, amongst some not so impressive though. Buchholz has been getting belted and his ERA sits at a lousy 6.17 over 8 games. He did manage a win over the Blue Jays though  7-6 back in late April. A Boston win is not out of the question I just think the price your getting on Toronto is too good. This could turn into a run fest (Over 9.0 a good bet as well here) and if it does ,then I like that Toronto batting lineup a lot more with the form they are in.

Suggested Bet

Toronto to win

LA Dodgers vs New York Mets  (Live ESPN 9am AEST)

Dodgers ($1.67) – Ryu

Mets ($2.27) – deGrom

Over/Under  –  Over 7.0 ($1.89) Under 7.0 ($1.95)

Prediction

Dodgers. Ryu is back from the injury table, in his 7 starts this season he has an ERA of 3.00 with a 3-2 record. deGrom was impressive in his major league debut last week  earning only 1 run in 7 innings against the Yankees. It’s a terribly hard game to predict due to the pitching matchup and that price on the Dodgers seems too low to take a nibble at. Pitchers coming off the DL is always a risk as is an inexperienced pitcher. Avoid the Head to Head bet. Dodgers bats have got back to a respectable form and Puig has been hitting very well of late only failing to hit once in his last 18 games. While the batting average is very bad for the Mets, their ability to score runs is not shocking. I’m predicting a few runs and the value on Over 7.5 with the *cough* TAB is pretty good.

Suggested Bet

Over 7.5 with TAB ($2.15)

Other Suggested Bets

Arizona Diamondbacks vs St Louis Cardinals (10am)

Cards are starting to get on a nice roll after a rocky few weeks and their home record as always to strong. Wacha has slumped of late but he is too good to continue that sort of form. D-backs can get runs, but pitching continues to be a problem McCarthy is 1-6 with an ERA of 5.01, D-backs have only won 1 on the 9 games he has started. Likely to continue. Cards to win by at least 2 here. Take St Louis -1.5 at a healthy $2.36.

Hope you all have a good week with your MLB betting, hopefully your thoughts on the games match up with mine. As always these are only a select few games I was interested in, feel free to share your opinions on any games at @MLB_TheProfits on Twitter. Happy Punting.
