English Premier League 2017/18 – Game Week 15

English Premier League - Football

Another week of EPL action and another win for Manchester City. The Citizens are seemingly invincible, particularly after 2 matches where they were tested right until the end with narrow 2-1 wins over Huddersfield and Southampton. It’s continual results like these and despite some injuries that are filtering through that have given them their ever commanding 8 point lead. There is of course still 24 games to go, but right now it seems a very tough task to chase them down. Manchester United are starting to find some form again after winning their last 3 to sit in 2nd place whilst Arsenal find themselves in the top 4 after winning 5 of their last 6 and pushing themselves into some great form with a dominating 5-0 win over Huddersfield during the week. This is where this weekend will get interesting for the chasing pack with the Gunners hosting 2nd placed United which creates a great focal point for week 15 of the EPL.

Week 15 Best Bet: Manchester City to win both halves vs West Ham at $1.8

Week 15 Best Value Bet: Chelsea -2 handicap vs Newcastle at $2.8

Week 15 Head to Head Multi Bet: Liverpool win ($1.45), Everton Win ($1.67), Chelsea Win ($1.2), Burnely/Leicester Draw ($3.5) = $10.17

Headline Fixtures

Arsenal vs Manchester United

This is shaping up as a fantastic contest between 2 sides that are in good from. Both have won their last 3 matches with Arsenal arguably getting the better results with wins over Spurs, a win away at the ever improving Burnley to then be capped off with a dominating 5-0 win over Huddersfield. It’s not to discount United’s form though having got the job done over Newcastle, Brighton and Watford. Perhaps the difference though is it seems as Arsenal’s key players are finding form at the right time. Mesut Oezil has been huge with a goal and 3 assists in his last 3 games and he could be the key for whether Arsenal are successful in this match. United though will be tough to break down which make this a fascinating tactical battle. Don’t expect a lot of goals though as neither side will be too adventurous but more likely to wait for those key moments and opportunities to break through. It really could go either way this one but given Arsenal’s resurgence, they seem to have a lot of momentum and belief in the way they are playing that may be enough to upset United. Defensively United have been almost impenetrable at home conceding just 1 goal but on the road they’ve conceded 7 times and that points to opportunity.

Predicted Result: Arsenal 1-0

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals at $1.82

Best Value Bet: Half-Time Draw at $2.1

Watford vs Tottenham

This is a massive game for Tottenham and being a London derby against an up and coming Watford side, it should be very good contest. Spurs have been poor of late with just 1 league win in their last 5 suffering losses to Leicester, Arsenal and Manchester United. There’s little doubting their superiority in comparison to Watford here, but on form they are not a side to be backing at the moment. Confidence is an important factor in any football side and it’s something that Spurs are lacking right now. Watford may have been beaten last time out against United but they’re a competitive and hungry side that will no doubt trouble Tottenham here. Spurs are of course a good chance of bouncing back and finding some form but don’t count on it the way things have been going. Another tough result could be on the cards.

Predicted Result: Draw 2-2

Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.65

Best Value Bet: Watford to win either half at $2.5

Remaining Fixtures

Chelsea vs Newcastle

It may have been a 1-0 result but Chelsea got the job done against a determined Swansea side and they should continue that trend here. Newcastle don’t look they’ll be able to withstand Chelsea’s attack with the same determination though so it should be a Chelsea win but by a bigger margin

Predicted Result: Chelsea 3-0

Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.56

Best Value Bet: Chelsea -2 handicap at $2.8

Brighton vs Liverpool

Brighton are doing themselves proud this season and are being competitive more often than not which sees them 10th on the table. A side like Liverpool is one they can certainly trouble but Liverpool’s attacking force looks irresistible at the moment, in particular Salah. Expect some resistance early from Brighton only for Liverpool to run over the top of them.

Predicted Result: Liverpool 3-1

Best Bet: Liverpool to score 2 or more goals at $1.5

Best Value Bet: Half-Time/Full-Time – Draw/Liverpool at $4

Everton vs Huddersfield

A new manager after a confidence boosting win should fire Everton into some form here that sees them make it 2 in a row. Huddersfield are a competitive bunch and will get their fair share of results this season but Everton look too confident right now to not get the 3 points here.

Predicted Result: Everton 2-0

Best Bet: Everton to win at $1.67

Best Value Bet: Everton to lead at Half-Time at $2.25

Leicester vs Burnley

The former title winners from a few seasons ago returned to their title winning best when they dispatched Tottenham during the week 2-1. Burnley are becoming a very tough side to beat and not just at home but on the road too which sees them deservedly in 6th. If Leicester can continue their form they’ll be right in this but Burnley are in such good touch it’s difficult to see them losing.

Predicted Result: Draw 1-1

Best Bet: Double Chance Burnley at $2

Best Value Bet: Draw at $3.5

Stoke vs Swansea

The Potters are a bit up and down this season but perhaps more down than up thus far. Swansea might be struggling for results in 19th but they’ve been competitive in their recent matches that could see them sneak something here, even if it’s just a point it’ll be a very valuable one.

Predicted Result: Draw 1-1

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals at $1.64

Best Value Bet: Swansea o score exactly 1 goal at $2.5

West Brom vs Crystal Palace

The Baggies are liking a draw at the moment and they may be in for another here with the visit of Palace. Palace are undefeated in their last 3 and are starting to build some momentum despite still sitting on the bottom of the table. It’ll be a tough ask for 3 points here, but a draw isn’t out of the question.

Predicted Result: Draw 0-0

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals at $1.55

Best Value Bet: No First half goals at $2.46

Bournemouth vs Southampton

The Draws are looking the likely results this weekend and it could continue in this one too. Bournemouth should respond after losing to Burnley at home last time out but Southampton will be pretty competitive after a solid performance that almost saw them snatch a draw at the current league leaders.

Predicted Result: Draw 2-2

Best Bet: BTTS – Yes at $1.83

Best Value Bet: Over 2.5 goals at $2.14

Manchester City vs West Ham

This really shouldn’t be anything other than a Manchester City win. The Hammers are getting desperate but even then they just don’t have the quality to be competitive enough to trouble Manchester City here.

Predicted Result: Manchester City 4-0

Best Bet: Manchester City to win both halves at $1.8

Best Value Bet: Total goals in Match – Exactly 4 at $4.33

As an Australian growing up AFL was always my no.1 sport especially given I was lucky enough to grow up a few blocks from Carlton’s home ground, Princes Park, where I was lucky enough to attend many games. That’s where my passion for sport began but it was until the early 2000’s when I discovered a real passion for football with the Socceroos 2002 World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay accelerating my football journey. From there I began to follow the Premier League and haven’t looked back since. These days I’m a massive Tottenham fan where I’ve enjoyed many sleepless nights religiously watching them without missing a game despite many roller coaster feelings. There’s just something magical and glamorous when you watch the EPL and knowing the Profits owners Drew and Euan through studies, I’m now lucky enough to be able to share my thoughts on each game each week of the season.
