English Premier League Game Week 15 Preview

English Premier League - Football

It’s only been a few days but already we have another round of games of the English Premier league to preview. Game week 14 was perhaps one of the most incredible weeks of premier league football in terms of stunning goals. Screamers from the likes of Hazard and Holtby along with a long range effort from Chirches would have been more than enough for one round of games, but then came Louis Suarez. If you haven’t seen his goals, I suggest you look it up as they are some of the best goals you will see. Let’s hope that this weekend brings some more screamers as well as some good results.

Best Bets this week

Liverpool versus West Ham – Over 2.5 goals at $1.64
West Brom versus Norwich – Over 2.5 goals at $1.91

Great Value this week

Chelsea half/full-time against Stoke at $2.54

Betting odds from Betfair as at 07/12/13

Manchester United ($1.56) Vs Newcastle ($7), Draw ($4.5)

A tough loss for Manchester United at home to Everton during the week has again put a bit of pressure on Moyes to get some results. They’re also facing a Newcastle United team this weekend that had 4 straight wins in November along with Tim Krul winning the player of the month award along with manager Alan Pardew winning the manager of the month award. Whilst this will no doubt be another tough away game for Newcastle after coming off a 3-0 away loss to Swansea during the week, their counterparts this weekend have some concerns. Wayne Rooney is suspended after picking up 5 yellow cards whilst Van Persie is still doubtful with an injury. Whilst that could open up the door for Newcastle, I’d expect a strong response from Man United after that loss to Everton and despite the injury concern over RVP and suspension of Rooney. It’s time they showed some fight this season.

Predicted result: Manchester United 2-1
Best bet: Manchester United to win at $1.56
Best Bet Confidence: 75%

Crystal Palace ($2.82) Vs Cardiff ($2.90), Draw ($3.3)

Palace had a fantastic first win under Tony Pulis during the week to beat West Ham 1-0 thanks to a Chamakh goal in the first half. That will no doubt give them a huge morale boost as they prepare to face some more stiff opposition in Cardiff this weekend. Palace have certainly been on the improve of late having now taken 7 points from their past 4 games when they had only had 3 points in their first 10 games. This could be another winnable game for them too as Cardiff have only taken 2 points from their last 4 away and have not won a game since the beginning of November when they beat Swansea. It may be a tad premature to jump on the Palace wave right now but there is certainly a bit more of a good feeling about them now. Palace have also only conceded once in their past 4 and with Cardiff misfiring up front having not scored in their last 2 it could be another low scoring result.

Predicted result: Crystal Palace 1-0
Best bet: Double Chance Palace at $1.49 – An under 2.5 goal option provides a bit more value at $1.67
Best Bet Confidence: 80%

Liverpool ($1.32) Vs West Ham ($12), Draw ($6)

What more can you say about Liverpool’s (Suarez’s) play during the week against Norwich. I bet Norwich were thinking it was all over as soon as Suarez lofted that shot over John Ruddy to get the scoring started. It seems like this is mission impossible for West Ham this week. I’m firstly not sure how they will stop Suarez and secondly I don’t know who will score their goals. They had a good win over Fulham last weekend to win 3-0, but the loss to Palace during the week would have knocked their morale back down again. They’re best hopes will be to pack their midfield and play on the counter the same way they did to beat Tottenham away 3-0. Regardless of how they play though I think it’ll be to little avail as Liverpool should have this one comfortably in the bag. An over 2.5 looks a good bet despite West Ham looking to play pretty tight to try and get a point.

Predicted result: Liverpool 3-0
Best bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.64
Best Bet Confidence: 85%

Southampton ($5.4) Vs Manchester City ($1.75), Draw ($3.8)

After such a stellar first third of the season the Saints have stuttered a bit with 3 losses in a row with the latest being a tight 3-2 loss to Aston Villa during the week. They’re coming up against Man City this weekend which means they’ll have played 3 of the top 4 sides in the past 4 games – a tough run for any team in the league. Man City have struggled away this season and their away win over West Brom during the week was only their second away win of the season. It was however also the return of Kompany to their defence and he’s expected to line up again this weekend so the away results could be set to change as a result. He’s perhaps along with the likes of Toure and Aguero as their most important player. I think this will still be a pretty tight game still with the edge to Man City due to Kompany and their attacking form through Aguero and co. Injury doubts of Wanyama and Clyne could also dent Southampton’s chances although we should still see a strong showing from them at home.

Predicted result: Manchester City 2-1
Best bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.87
Best Bet Confidence: 85%

Stoke ($6.8) Vs Chelsea ($1.6), Draw ($4.3)

Stoke host Chelsea this weekend having come off a scoreless draw against Cardiff during the week. Chelsea meanwhile had a tight 4-3 win over Sunderland away to put them on a 3 game winning streak scoring 10 goals in the process. Stoke will be a tough test for them though as they have only lost once at home so Chelsea’s attack will need to be on the money to break down this defence that has only conceded 3 times this season. Whilst it looks like Stoke will no doubt be a tough side to beat at home for Chelsea this week, Chelsea do have a very strong record over Stoke here. They’re undefeated in their last 10 meetings, whilst their last 5 away at Stoke have resulted in 3 wins and 2 draws. They’re last visit was also a 4-0 win for Chelsea with two own goals from Walters sealing that result for Chelsea putting them 2-0 up. I think this will be a Chelsea win but perhaps a little tighter than last time around.

Predicted result: Chelsea 2-0
Best bet: Chelsea to win at $1.6
Best Bet Confidence: 75%

West Brom ($1.8) Vs Norwich ($5.2), Draw ($3.85)

It’ll be interesting to see how Norwich can respond here after their demolition at the hands of Liverpool during the week when they head to West Brom this weekend. The loss to Liverpool was their 6th away loss of the season from 7 games so their chances against West Brom are not looking too positive given that West Brom have only lost one of their last 5 away which was to Manchester City during the week. Norwich still have some injury concerns as well with Snodgrass and Van Wolfswinkel out which will no doubt damage their chances of bouncing back from that heavy defeat to Liverpool. Great opportunity here for West Brom to notch a win here over a wounded Norwich side and despite the fact they have only notched 1 win in their last 5 games, they should be able to capitalise on this one.

Predicted result: West Brom 2-1
Best bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.91
Best Bet Confidence: 80%

Sunderland ($4.3) Vs Tottenham ($2.04), Draw ($3.55)

Interesting matchup here with Sunderland hosting Tottenham this weekend. Sunderland are languishing down in 20th position but they can certainly take some positives out of their last two results with a 0-0 away draw with Villa and their 3-4 loss during the week to Chelsea at home. Tottenham meanwhile had a solid comeback to beat Fulham 2-1 thanks to some fine goals from Holtby and Chiriches. It wasn’t their best performance and they were perhaps lucky to get away with the 3 points, but it will no doubt give them a boost heading into this one. The signs are looking better for Tottenham though with a solid result against Manchester United last weekend as well as they’ve now started scoring from open play with 3 goals from open play in their last 2 games. Regardless though, this is still a danger game for Tottenham with Sunderland a threat at home after their performance against Chelsea. Still going to give the nod to Tottenham here though in a close one.

Predicted result: Tottenham 2-1
Best bet: Both teams to score at $1.89
Best Bet Confidence: 70%

Fulham ($2.78) Vs Aston Villa ($2.86), Draw ($3.4)

Tough loss for Fulham during the week but they did play pretty well despite not getting the result they wanted and it took some stunning efforts for Spurs to beat them in the end. Villa had a great away win at Southampton during the week to push them into 10th spot and add to their strong away record this season of 3 wins, 3 draws, and 1 loss. I’m not sure if Benteke will return to the starting line-up this weekend having seen his replacement Kozak score against Southampton but he could have a big say in the outcome of this game. Fulham were impressive against Tottenham for much of the game and it will be interesting to see how they respond under their new manager again here after that loss. I think Villa will be good enough for a draw but Fulham will be dangerous and perhaps a double chance option on Fulham is a safe bet here.
Predicted result: Draw 1-1
Best bet: Double chance Fulham at $1.5
Best Bet Confidence: 80%

Arsenal ($1.71) Vs Everton ($5.8), Draw ($4)

The Gunners take on Everton this weekend in what is shaping as the game of the weekend. Everton had a great 1-0 win over Manchester United last week but this will be a bigger test against an Arsenal side that has been incredibly strong all season. Arsenal have a great record at home this season despite that opening day lass to Villa. Since that game they’ve gone on 5 straight wins and conceded only two goals so it’s no doubt a tough ask for Everton to repeat their efforts from mid-week. I expect this to be a pretty tough battle despite Arsenal still running out with the win at home. Arsenal also rested a few players from their mid-week game so they should be a bit fresher as well than their visitors.

Predicted result: Arsenal 2-1
Best bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.82

Best Bet Confidence: 80%

Swansea ($1.79) Vs Hull ($5.6), Draw ($3.8)

The final match of game week 15 sees Swansea host Hull with both sides having contrasting results during the week. Swansea had a great win over a Newcastle side that had won their previous 4 games through November whilst Hull suffered a 2-0 loss at Arsenal albeit expected. A successive home game here for Swansea puts them in a good position to notch up consecutive wins for the first time this season. With Bony and Michu out injured though, Hull are certainly in with a chance of getting something out of this game though they’ll need to drastically improve their away record which has so far seen 6 losses from 7 away games. No striker for Swansea should see them dominate possession even more so than what they usually do so the chances should come for them to notch their second successive win in the end.

Predicted result: Swansea 2-0
Best bet: Swansea to win at $1.82
Best Bet Confidence: 75%

As an Australian growing up AFL was always my no.1 sport especially given I was lucky enough to grow up a few blocks from Carlton’s home ground, Princes Park, where I was lucky enough to attend many games. That’s where my passion for sport began but it was until the early 2000’s when I discovered a real passion for football with the Socceroos 2002 World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay accelerating my football journey. From there I began to follow the Premier League and haven’t looked back since. These days I’m a massive Tottenham fan where I’ve enjoyed many sleepless nights religiously watching them without missing a game despite many roller coaster feelings. There’s just something magical and glamorous when you watch the EPL and knowing the Profits owners Drew and Euan through studies, I’m now lucky enough to be able to share my thoughts on each game each week of the season.
