The only shining light for Saturday was that Commanding Jewel got home in the last while I couldn’t be upset with the price we got for Puissance De Lune on such a close loss. There are a fair few quality runners going around today and I expect a few to even feature in some shape in the Spring. I hope your form matches up with mine. Good luck and happy punting!

R5 Mornington
No mucking around here. MyBenz was sensational last prep and the first up run was strong enough to suggest she will be winning today. Heavily down in class and amazingly down 2kg after claim. Beriman knows how to ride this good thing home and from barrier 11 will hopefully sit forward enough to simply just win.

R6 Mornington
This is a very tough race on paper. Several key chances go around today and quite a few are weighted well. Don’t be shocked if this race is run at a fairly strong tempo with several horses expected to try and go forward.
Xavi is a horse I have a very high opinion of. Two runs over this distance and he has never missed a place. 5 from 6 runs in this class have all resulted in a place and first up has won twice and placed the other two. Last prep finished with a 1L third behind Banco Mo in Open Class. I’m not too fussed with here he is ridden today.. I’m expecting about 1 out 3 back. I think he can go really close, but most importantly, the place price appeals.
