UK Horse Racing Form – Fakenham, Haydock, Cheltenham, Wolverhampton and Dundalk – Friday 19 October

Horse Racing - Australia

According to trainer, Sir Henry Cecil, Frankel, is still improving. He is preparing to saddle the world’s best horse for what is almost certainly his final start in Saturday’s Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot. The Khalid Abdullah-owned son of Galileo, who is unbeaten in thirteen, warmed up for his final showdown by galloping on Tuesday morning. Sir Henry Cecil reassured Frankel fans yesterday that he is ‘better than ever’. At one stage he was set to go off 1/10F but with the ground easing all the time and the forecasted going ‘heavy’ he has eased in the betting to 1/6F. Nathaniel and Cirrus Des Aigles go to post and are proven in the conditions. It will be the first time Nathaniel and Frankel have met since their debuts where Nathaniel went down a half-a-length – one of the closest any horse has ever got to the superstar! Sir Henry Cecil said: “I am pretty confident he will be fine in soft ground, but if it’s heavy we are in no-man’s land. He has never encountered it and, with his action and turn of foot, I cannot be sure that he would appreciate it.”
