The Ditcheat yard was dealt a cruel blow on Monday evening, with stable-star Big Buck’s and Paddy Power Gold Cup victor Al Ferof to be sidelined for the rest of the season. The latter has been removed from the betting for the King George on boxing day to punters disappointment, having been victim to some support. Many felt he was back on track forgiving his disappointing Arkle performance by outstaying Walkon in the Paddy Power Gold Cup. With his absence further support has come for the Nicky Henderson-trained Long Run, who has endured a frustrating time of things since winning the Gold Cup. Again, we are happy to take him on under Sam-Waley Cohan and rate Cue Card as the most intriguing contender in the line-up. The Tizzard team think highly of him and he has reportedly schooled better than ever the last week or so. The doubt is the distance and whether he’ll stay, but the way he galloped his rivals into submission in the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter, we fancy him to do so.
