Maui Challenger – Mmoh vs Chung

Two of the young guns of mens tennis meet in the quarter finals of the Maui Challenger – a stopover for many players on the way back to the US after the Australian Open.

Road to the Quarter Final

Chung has had a very comfortable two rounds so far in Maui, dropping only 7 games through his two matches against Novikov and Macdonald. He lifted his 1st serve percentage significantly in round 2 as the conditions improved (wind dropped).

Mmoh on the other hand has had a bit of a tougher time of things, needing three sets in both rounds. After coming from a set down to defeat Vasek Pospisil, Mmoh managed to defeat Paul in 3 sets after trading 6-1’s in the opening two sets.

Both players have had very solid starts to 2016, with Mmoh reaching the Auckland Open via qualifying before losing to Dustin Brown in 3 tight sets. He then went to Australia, where he did struggle against the crafty Gilles Simon in straight sets. Chung on the other hand made the 2nd round of the Chennai Open, before a suprising loss to Dudi Sela 2-6 2-6. He put in a better performance in Australia, beating Renzo Olivo in round 1 before losing to Grigor Dimitrov in 4 sets, after absolutely dominating the first set.

The Match Up

From a pure price ratings perspective, I had Mmoh at $3.45 in this meeting, so the $4.50+ on offer about is pretty decent value in my opinion. I would stay away from the handicap market as the 4.5 game handicap is my most hated handicap as the server in the first set decides whether you are needing 2 or 3 breaks to cover. What does appeal to me is the 20.5 game total available at Pinnacle, Luxbet and Bet365. I think this match will be a lot tighter than many expect, so the over 20.5 games is a very appealing prospect here.

Suggested Bet

4 units Mmoh/Chung over 20.5 total games at $1.81 at Pinnacle ($1.80 at Bet365 and Luxbet)
