US Open Day 2

us open

Welcome to the Day 2 Preview for The Profits. We got the fortnight off to a good start with a couple of wins yesterday. Hopefully we can keep it up today. As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch on twitter (@Ace_TheProfits)

Allertova vs Peterson

I must say I was very impressed with the qualifying form of Peterson last week, with wins over Diyas, Aiava and Kato on her way through to the main draw. Along similar lines to the Kozlova play yesterday, I am pretty comfortable siding with Peterson off her qualifying form opposed to Allertova who has not played a hard court match competitively since April (lost to a then out of form Makarova 4-6 3-6). Whilst Allertova did put together a solid patch of form on hardcourt through March and April, however I am pretty happy to side with Peterson to get the job done here.

Suggested Bet

5 units Peterson to defeat Allertova at $1.81 at Pinnacle

Cirstea vs Kerkhove

Kerkhove is another player that I was very impressed with throughout qualifying, putting in some very solid performances against Tomova, Trevisan and Skamlova to make her way through to the main draw. Those who have been following this year will know Kerkhove actually got the better of us in the Kuala Lumpur tournament in March, and I think she has the ability here to cover the handicap against Cirstea.

The game handicap of +4.5 games at over $2 is awfully appealing for a small play at least, when you consider Cirstea is 4 wins and 8 losses over her last 12 hardcourt matches. I think Kerkhove should at least be able to take a set, which should be more than enough to cover her handicap here (another option of course is taking the total game score to be OVER)

Suggested Bet

2 units Kerkhove +4.5 games at $2.01 at Pinnacle

Plays I have considering (and still may be considering)

Benneteau to defeat Goffin (main ? is best of 5 sets – maybe consider Benneteau to win the first set, although the tape on his shoulder last week did put me off when he retired against Chung)

Harrison/Berdych total games OVER – Had you asked me 6 months ago I would have taken this play, but I am just not sure I can trust Harrison fully. Yes he beat Raonic here last year and is every chance of the upset, but I don’t want to deal in ‘ifs’ at the moment.

Mertens to defeat Keys in some capacity – That price just seems big considering the form of both players

Berankis in some capacity vs Mannarino – $6+ and all associated lines and prices seem off, however I am put off by the performance of protected ranking players on day 1, as well as the likes of Lacko and co who I thought similar about on day 1, left, and was rewarded for it. Sometimes a leave is just as good as a win.

Zhang to beat Lisicki – Should just win on form.

Zhuk to beat Putintseva – Putintseva would want a massive turnaround in attitude compared to last week, or she won’t be in New York for a very long time.
