Western Bulldogs ($6.75) vs Collingwood Magpies ($1.11) – Friday 7:50pm EST – 4/05/2012
Recent clashes: Pies won 4 of last 7 with a 48 point in round 6 of last year in the last clash
AFL Tipping: Pies 96% Dogs 4%
Game preview: The bulldogs were nothing special last week against the Giants and have not been anything special all year. The pies on the other hand were great getting over the Dons by 1 point. This will be a one sided match and the Dogs will be outclassed. Be interesting to see how Cloke plays this week after all the speculation of him leaving the Pies. Generally this type of talk hurts performance. Shaw and Reid big ins for Pies. Blair is a out that hurts, he was great in and under last week. Hargrave and Gia back in for Dogs help as well.
Collingwood by 45 points
Line: Collingwood -38.5

Essendon Bombers ($1.18) vs Brisbane Lions ($4.85) – Saturday 1:40pm AEST – 5/05/2012
Recent clashes: Bombers have won 3 of last 5 vs Lions with the Dons having a 36 point win in Round 8 last year
AFL Tipping: Bombers 98% Lions 2%
Game preview: The lions were outclassed last week by the Cats and you would expect playing in Melbourne for this to happen once again.  Drummond and Raines are two big outs for the Lions while Essendon lose Hibberd and Pears to injuries and soreness. Dempsey and Colyer are handy ins. Essendon will put the Lions away in the final 40 minutes of the match. Expect it to be close up until about half-time.
Essendon by 38 points
Line: Essendon -29.5

Geelong Cats ($1.03) vs Melbourne Demons ($12.00) – Saturday 1:45pm AEST – 5/05/2012
Recent clashes: Cats have won the last 7. Cats won the last match by 186 points (no typo).
AFL Tipping: Cats 99% Demons 1%
Game preview: Geelong will win. The wet weather over the next few days will help Melbourne at least close in on a respectable margin you would think. Kelly and brown are big ins for the Cats while Watts and Macdonald out for Melbourne with Clark back in.
Geelong by 70 points
Line: Geelong -55.5

Gold Coast Suns ($6.75) vs Fremantle Dockers ($1.11) – Saturday 4:40pm AEST – 5/05/2012
Recent clashes: Fremantle won the only clash by 50 points
AFL Tipping: Dockers 96% Suns 4%
Game preview: Fyfe out injured is a big downside for the Dockers but Jack Anthony out is a big bonus! Suns are down quite a bit of quality.  Over in Gold Coast, this game will be taken out in the final 2 QTRs by the Dockers. Interestingly, Suns have never won at home.
Fremantle by 40
Line: Fremantle -38.5

St Kilda Saints ($3.75) vs Hawthorn Hawks ($1.27) – Saturday 7:40pm AEST – 5/05/2012
Recent clashes: Previous clashes are tied 3 wins 3 loses. Interestingly,  hawks have won all 3 at the MCG with saints not winning against them here. Hawks won the last clash by 30 points
AFL Tipping: Hawks 86% Saints 14%
Game preview: The Saints didn’t convince anyone last week with their struggling win over the Demons. The hawks will come out hungry here and will have improved on their second half last week. Expect the Hawks to kick away with it early through some hard ball gets.
Hawthorn by 30
Line: -24.5

Sydney Swans ($1.25) vs Adelaide Crows ($4.05) – Saturday 7:40pm AEST – 5/05/2012
Recent clashes: Swans come into this with a woeful record against Crows having won 1 of the last 5. Crows won the last game in Round 15 last year by 7 points.
AFL Tipping: Swans 91% Crows 9%
Game preview: Sydney were brilliant last week. We gave them a chance and they certainly main clowns of many people who felt they had no hope.  Back to their fortress at home, Sydney will be far too good for a Crows team who struggle when travelling. No Major changes on either side.
Sydney by 35
Line: Sydney -25.5

Carlton Blues ($1.01) vs Greater Western Sydney Giants ($26.00) – Sunday 1:10pm AEST – 6/05/2012
Recent clashes: First meeting
AFL Tipping: Blues 99% Giants 1%
Game preview: Blues resting Waite, Judd and Krezuer while bringing in 5 handy players. Giants lose 5 players but bring in some fairly handy names with Palmer, Brogan and O’hAilpin to name a few.
Carlton by 65
Line: Giants -85.5

Port Adelaide Power ($2.05) vs Richmond Tigers ($1.75) – Sunday 2:45pm ACST – 6/05/2012
Recent clashes: The Power have won 5 of the last 7 games including both games in Adelaide. They won the last game by 15.
AFL Tipping: Power 40% Tigers 60%
Game preview: The Power were very disappointing last week. After hitting the front they were poor once again in the final QTR. Averaging only 12 points in the final QTR of very game this week (Max score of 17, they are on of the worst finishing teams this year). Tigers will stay in this/slightly ahead to 3 QTR time and take it home.
Richmond by 20
Line: Richmond -4.5

West Coast Eagles ($1.28) vs North Melbourne Kangaroos ($3.70) – Sunday 2:40pm AWST – 6/05/2012
Recent clashes: Eagles have won 4 of the last 7 with a tough 4 point win over Roos in Round 1 of last year. They have won 3 of last 4 in Perth.
AFL Tipping: Eagles 95% Kangaroos 5%
Game preview: The most interesting game of the weekend. Eagles lose Brown, Schofield and Kennedy to injury while McGinnity, Sheppard and Mackenzie come back in. Roos have included Goldstein and others to come back in as well. I wouldn’t rule the Roos out of this game but if their effort away to Sydney recently is anything to go by, they will struggle to match the Eagles for the entire match.
West Coast by 25
Line: Eagles -23.5

Betting
Richmond 1-39 at $2.56
Geelong over 40 at $1.40
Hawthorn 1-39 at $2.05
North Melbourne +43.5 at $1.33

Covering all things Australian Rules Football for The Profits. I’ve been a passionate supporter and follower of AFL for as long as I can remember. Having been born into a family with deep football history and tradition on both sides, you can say it runs through my blood. I’ve got a keen interest in the stats and analysis of the game, which helped me finish in the top 100 of fantasy competitions DreamTeam and Supercoach last year. While my own local football career was cut short due to injury at 22, it has created an opportunity for me to frequently watch and build a deep knowledge of the sport at its highest level. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and views throughout the season.
