Carlton Blues ($2.80) vs Geelong Cats ($1.45) – Etihad Stadium, Friday June 8, 7.50pm
Recent clashes: Geelong 15.12 (102) d Carlton 14.16 (100), round nine, 2011 at Etihad Stadium
Game preview: Neither team is performing well while at least Geelong is winning games unlike Carlton who have not had a memorable month. The loss by the Blues to Port Adelaide last week would have done nothing for their confidence going into this game against the Cats. I keep tipping the Blues to win and they keep costing me points. I suppose as soon as I stop tipping them they will win. They will beat the Blues it all depends on the players who are back.
Geelong by 26 Points
Line: Geelong -14.5

Richmond Tigers ($1.20) vs Fremantle Dockers ($4.60) – MCG, Saturday, June 9, 1.40pm
Recent clashes: Richmond 23.10 (148) d Fremantle 14.15 (99), round seven, 2011 at the MCG
Game preview: Even when the Tigers were not playing so well they were still be able to beat Fremantle. Especially after defeating highly-rated opponents Hawthorn and St Kilda in the past two matches. Considering the form of these 2 teams (after last week should we ever care about form again?), it will be hard to find a winning case for the Dockers.
Richmond by 54 points
Line: Richmond -32.5

Gold Coast Suns ($7.50) vs St Kilda Saints ($1.09) – Metricon Stadium, Saturday June 9, 4.40pm
Recent clashes: St Kilda 21.13 (139) d Gold Coast 7.5 (47), round 2, 2012, at Etihad Stadium
Game preview: This is the 2nd time these teams have met this season with St Kilda handing the Suns a 92 point thrashing. While I think the Suns play a little bit better at home they would have to play out of their skins to beat the Saints who lost narrowly to Richmond last week. It could be a winless season looming for Gold Coast. The Saints need to keep winning games like this.
St Kilda by 26
Line: Gold Coast Suns +43.5

Essendon Bombers ($1.62) vs Sydney Swans ($2.30) – Etihad Stadium, Saturday, June 9, 7.40pm
Recent clashes: Essendon 15.10 (100) d Sydney Swans 14.15 (99) round 20, 2011 at Etihad Stadium
Game preview: This is certainly the game of the round with both teams sitting high on the ladder after a good starts to the season. Sydney have a horrible Melbourne record losing all four games here this year. One of the upsets last week was the loss to Melbourne by Essendon and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back from that disappointing loss to beat Sydney who annihilated the Western Bulldogs last week. This should be a close game but we’ve said that before. Dons will bounce back from last week.
Essendon Bombers by 26 points
Line: Essendon Bombers -9.5

Port Adelaide Power ($4.00) vs Hawthorn ($1.25) – AAMI Stadium, Sunday June 10, 4.10pm
Recent clashes: Hawthorn 31.11 (197) defeated Port Adelaide 5.2 (32), round 21, 2011 at the MCG
Game preview: The Port Adelaide team that we thought was a basket case about a month ago is now sitting just 2 games out of the 8! The Power has strung together 3 wins in a row. Although the Hawks don’t have a great record at AAMI they should be chock-full of confidence after their belting of North Melbourne last week. Some tipsters may consider this to be a danger game for Hawthorn but I say pshaw! Don’t go crazy on Hawks. They have beaten NO ONE in the last 6 weeks and had some embarassing loses. Roos are playing like a bottom four team right now. No surprise they got thumped. Hawks win as long as no key outs. Also, Jay Schulz is the key in for Port. He is still not 100% to play. If not announced playing, Hawks should win comfortably.
Hawthorn by 32 points
Line: Hawthorn -26.5

Melbourne Demons ($8.00) vs Collingwood Magpies ($1.08) – MCG, Monday, June 11, 3.15pm
Recent clashes: Collingwood 19.15 (129) d Melbourne 6.5 (41), round 12, 2011 at MCG
Game preview: The Demons cracked their first win last week unexpectedly against Essendon and they have always been a team that has troubled the Pies, more so in 2010 than last year, but, with a little bit of confidence gained from last week they will test Collingwood if the Magpies take the game too easily. Pendlebury was added to the Collingwood injury list last week but Dane Swan is due to return.
Collingwood Magpies by 65 points
Line: Collingwood Magpies – 46.5

Having been born into a family with deep football history and tradition on both sides, you can say it runs through my blood. I’ve got a keen interest in the stats and analysis of the game, which helped me finish in the top 100 of fantasy competitions DreamTeam and Supercoach last year. While my own local football career was cut short due to injury at 22, it has created an opportunity for me to frequently watch and build a deep knowledge of the sport at its highest level. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and views throughout the season.
