West Coast Eagles ($1.30) vs Carlton Blues ($3.10) – Patersons Stadium, Thursday, June 14, 5.40pm
Recent clashes: West Coast 15.11 (101) d Carlton 15.8 (98), first semi-final, 2011, at Patersons Stadium
Game preview: The Blues did not have a merry Month of May and June hasn’t started with a smile either with consecutive losses to Port Adelaide and Geelong. Carlton will have to be on their best game to win this one as well against The Eagles in their nest in Perth. A 6 day break and a flight across the continent won’t help either.
West Coast Eagles by 26 Points
Line: West Coast Eagles -24.5

St Kilda Saints ($2.90) vs Adelaide Crows ($1.42) – AAMI Stadium, Friday June 15, 8.10pm
Recent clashes: St Kilda 19.13 (127) d Adelaide 3.6 (24), round 18, 2011 at Etihad Stadium
Game preview: Both teams are in reasonable form but Adelaide Crows at home can beat almost anybody these days and I think that will include St Kilda this week. It’s still hard to say whether Adelaide will make the top 4 but they are well on the way with 8 wins already. It will be a side interest to see two former assistant coaches against each other and their team playing different styles of football. Both teams are in fine form and this one will go down to the wire.
Adelaide Crows by 1 point
Line: St Kilda Saints +15.5

Greater Western Sydney Giants ($15.00) vs Richmond Tigers ($1.02) – Skoda Stadium, Saturday June 16, 2.10pm
Recent clashes: First meeting
Game preview: The Tigers copped a mauling last week from Fremantle and stopped their steady march towards the 8. This week they get a bit of relief when they play the Giants and they can add another 4 premiership points to their tally. For the Giants? Well, it’s just another step on that long journey to gain experience for the players which will eventually lead to a few more wins.

Richmond Tigers by 76
Line: Richmond Tigers -58.5

Gold Coast Suns ($5.60) vs North Melbourne ($1.15) – Metricon Stadium, Saturday June 16, 7.40pm
Recent clashes: North Melbourne 17.25 (127) d Gold Coast 13.15 (93), round 5, 2012, at Etihad Stadium
Game preview: After their weak display against St Kilda last week it’s a sure thing that the Suns will come out for this game with a bit more determination and application. North was beaten badly by Hawthorn the week before and needed the rest to get back their mojo. No surprise here if the Suns don’t lose by a lot although it’s hard to see them win the game.
North Melbourne by 20 points
Line: Gold Coast Sun +36.5

Hawthorn Hawks ($1.08) vs Brisbane Lions ($8.25) – MCG, Sunday June 17, 1.10pm
Recent clashes: Hawthorn 16.9 (105) d Brisbane Lions 9.9 (63), round 16, 2011 at Aurora Stadium
Game preview: At time of writing the Buddy report had not been resolved but it will make little difference to the result of this game whether Franklin plays or not. The Lions pulled a game out of the hat last match against West Coast but playing the Hawks at the MCG will be a bit harder. Put it this way, it would be another upset for tipsters.
Hawthorn by 52 points
Line: Hawthorn -48.5

Western Bulldogs ($1.45) vs Port Adelaide ($2.75) – Etihad Stadium, Sunday June 17, 4.40pm
Recent clashes: Western Bulldogs 24.13 (157) d Port Adelaide 15.7 (97), round 22, 2011 at AAMI Stadium
Game preview: It’s hard to say who might win this game as the Bulldogs and the Power are two teams showing inconsistent form. Catch either team on their day and they can play well enough to beat much better sides. The Doggies copped a hiding from the Swans in their last outing and Port was roughed up and beaten by Hawthorn so there is no winning form to make a confident tip. Port Adelaide in a close one!
Port Adelaide by 15 points
Line: Port Adelaide +16.5

Betting

Richmond Tigers 40+ at 1.33
Port Adelaide +16.5 at 1.91
West Coast Eagles 1-39 at 2.10
Gold Coast Suns +47.5 at 1.51

Covering all things Australian Rules Football for The Profits. I’ve been a passionate supporter and follower of AFL for as long as I can remember. Having been born into a family with deep football history and tradition on both sides, you can say it runs through my blood. I’ve got a keen interest in the stats and analysis of the game, which helped me finish in the top 100 of fantasy competitions DreamTeam and Supercoach last year. While my own local football career was cut short due to injury at 22, it has created an opportunity for me to frequently watch and build a deep knowledge of the sport at its highest level. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and views throughout the season.
