AFL Finals 2nd Week 2012 – Elimination Round

Welcome to The Profits 2nd week of the Finals analysis with Drew and Euan. This is Elimination week with no more second chances on the line! Over the last 10 years, 39 out of the 40 teams that have finished top 4 have made the Preliminary final. It is safe to say we haven’t had a closer finals series in a long time and when you consider how easy the draw was for a few teams, anyone could win this weekend. Adelaide Crows ($1.58) vs Fremantle Dockers ($2.40)  – AAMI Stadium, Friday September 14, 8.15pm
Recent clashes: Adelaide 17.17 (119) defeated Fremantle 14.7 (91), round 20 2012 at AAMI Stadium
Game preview: Adelaide were woeful in front of goal kicking 5 goals 12. They actually had more shots on goal than Sydney. It was a fairly even game but they couldn’t get any momentum. Fremantle got the jump on a Cats team that who played at about 50% of what they had the previous weeks. Fremantle did a very good job to shut down the key forwards of Geelong but Adelaide brings fresher and stronger legs into the contest. Expect Adelaide to step up and win.

Collingwood Magpies ($1.80) vs West Coast Eagles ($2.03) – The MCG, Saturday 15 September, 7.45pm
Recent clashes: West Coast 15.17 (107) d Collingwood 8.10 (58), round 22, 2012, at Patersons Stadium
Game preview: Collingwood were below average last week against the flag favourite hawks while the Eagles were dominant from start to finish against the Kangaroos. The Eagles smashed the pies in Round 22 107 to 58 and we expect the Eagles to be too strong over the four QTRs with a Captainless Collingwood.
Eagles by 15
Line: Eagles +3.5
