Sydney Swans ($1.65) vs Geelong Cats ($2.22) – SCG, Friday June 22, 7.50pm
Recent clashes: Sydney Swans 15.9 (99) d Geelong 12.14 (86), round 23, 2011 at Simonds Stadium
Game preview: Both teams are coming off a bye so being fresh enough for the game is no concern. Goodes returns for the Swans as well. The game is at the SCG. There seems to be a lot of positives for Sydney. The game should go down to the wire and expect it to be close. The only question mark against the Swans is their dramatic fade out against Essendon last week in the last quarter.
Geelong Cats by 16 Points
Line: Geelong Cats +7.5

Western Bulldogs ($1.38) vs Brisbane Lions ($3.05) – Etihad Stadium, Saturday June 23, 1.40pm
Recent clashes: Western Bulldogs 19.9 (123) d Brisbane Lions 6.9 (45), round two, 2011 at Etihad Stadium
Game preview: These two teams have been showing similar form all season so far so picking the winner here is not a straightforward tip. The Bulldogs are staying in touch with the top 8 courtesy of some wins against lesser sides so you would think they could manage a win here as well. Brisbane play consecutive away games and they faded badly against the Hawks last week.
Western Bulldogs by 26 points
Line: Western Bulldogs -18.5

Collingwood Magpies ($1.42) vs West Coast Eagles ($2.90) – MCG, Saturday June 23, 4.40pm
Recent clashes: Collingwood 12.10 (82) d West Coast 9.8 (62), qualifying final, 2011, at the MCG
Game preview: Is this the game between the likely Grand Finalists for 2012? Collingwood and West Coast have had their injury problems thus far but they continue to keep winning games. An unlikely loss to Brisbane 2 weeks ago by the Eagles might point to some weaknesses there. The MCG might not be West Coast’s favourite ground but they have won premierships there so a game like this will be a challenge. The Pies can move into the top 2 if they win. West Coast would retain top position.

Collingwood Magpies by 22
Line: Collingwood Magpies – 15.5

Freemantle Dockers ($2.15) vs Essendon Bombers ($1.70) – Patersons Stadium, Saturday June 23, 5.40pm
Recent clashes: Fremantle 15.8 (98) d Essendon 9.10 (64), round 12, 2011 at Patersons Stadium
Game preview: Although the game is in Perth the recent form of Fremantle does not fill tipsters with a great deal of confidence. It was certainly a shock win against the Tigers a couple of weeks ago and that form would sway a tip their way against the Bombers who seem to be losing  a bit of momentum albeit they almost snatched a most unlikely win against the Swans last week. This is a difficult tip because if Essendon bring their A game they will win easily, especially with Freo having so many outs! Anything less will see them beaten. A draw is most likely.
Essendon Bombers by 11
Line: Essendon Bombers – 5.5

Melbourne Demons ($1.30) vs Greater Western Sydney Giants ($3.55) – MCG, Sunday, June 24, 3.15pm
Recent clashes: First meeting
Game preview: As much as we would like to see the Giants win a winnable game against the Demons I think experience and the venue being at the MCG might just swing the result Melbourne’s way. If the Dees put in a performance like a few this year the Giants could win. Not a game that will have any bearing on the finals but important enough for a new, developing team and a long term disappointing team.
Melbourne Demons by 15 points
Line: Greater Western Sydney Giants +22.5

North Melbourne Kangaroos ($3.10) vs Adelaide Crows ($1.36) – Etihad Stadium, Sunday June 24, 4.40pm
Recent clashes: North Melbourne 18.7 (115) d Adelaide 10.8 (68), round 11, 2011 at Etihad Stadium
Game preview: North struggled last week against Gold Coast scraping home for a win as did the Crows against the Saints as they held on to win by 4 points. North can play champagne football but not often enough and they would have to crack Bollinger level to beat the Crows at the moment. Expect a tight first half but more consistent form by Adelaide should see them prevail and possibly take top position on the ladder if another result goes their way.
Adelaide Crows by 36 points
Line: Adelaide Crows – 19.5

Betting

Geelong Cats +7.5 at 1.91
Essendon Bombers – 5.5 at 1.91
Adelaide Crows -8.5 at 1.52
Collingwood Magpies 1-39 at 2.05

Covering all things Australian Rules Football for The Profits. I’ve been a passionate supporter and follower of AFL for as long as I can remember. Having been born into a family with deep football history and tradition on both sides, you can say it runs through my blood. I’ve got a keen interest in the stats and analysis of the game, which helped me finish in the top 100 of fantasy competitions DreamTeam and Supercoach last year. While my own local football career was cut short due to injury at 22, it has created an opportunity for me to frequently watch and build a deep knowledge of the sport at its highest level. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and views throughout the season.
