A fascinating seven-race card from Fairyhouse today with three Grade 1’s to get stuck into. Our Conor looks tough to oppose in the opener but we may well have found a slice of value in an improver with Stocktons Wing. Last season’s Champion Bumper hero Champagne Fever looks the bet of the meeting for Willie Mullins. The five-year old is proven on bottomless ground and is entitled to strip fitter for a taking display at Cork, impressing on his hurdling debut. Jezki is a clear danger but may ultimately just fall short. Dedigout has to top anyone’s shortlist after his gritty success in the Cathal Ryan Memorial Champion Novice Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival before scoring readily again at Punchestown last month on his seasonal reappearance. Davy Russell is riding out his skin at the moment which further bolsters his already strong claims.
It’s a tricky six-race card at Kempton today where it’s best to keep stakes at a minimum. Henryville could well get favourite backers off to the perfect start in the opener for Harry Fry. The four-year-old showed more than enough to suggest he can win a bumper finishing a creditable third at Ascot last month and warrants our next best bet today. Mush Mir represents our best chance of a winner though, having shown himself to be a useful prospect in the past. Granted he isn’t the most straightforward jumper of them all but is a powerful front-runner and may be tough to peg back.
