NBA Tips 23 March 2016

The Big Dog improved to 8-3-1 from his last dozen tips, as the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves couldn’t get the lid off the basket in the fourth quarter. After averaging 59.3 over the first three quarters and heading for narrow overs on the 232.5 line, they combined for just 35 points in an intense final quarter, locking in an easy win for unders. While there isn’t much to look at on today’s four-game card, The Big Dog has found a little gem to nominate as the “Play of the Day”.

Miami Heat @ New Orleans Pelicans

The injury crisis in New Orleans finally claimed the biggest name on the Pelicans roster, with Anthony Davis officially being shut down for the remainder of the season, in order to have surgery on a torn labium. With Davis out, joining Ryan Anderson, Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon (along with other role players), the only remaining legitimate scorer is point guard Jrue Holiday. It’s no surprise that Holiday’s scoring average has improved to 21.7 over the last ten games, compared to his season average of 16.6. William Hill are offering a head-to-head scoring market against Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat, who has been as stable as ever on the offensive end. Wade is averaging 19.0 points per game for the season and 18.9 over his last ten games. Only the most stoic fan of the New Orleans Pelicans will give them any chance of winning this game, even considering they’re at home and the Heat are a mediocre 17-16 on the road… but the Pelicans are likely to claim this small victory. Holiday will be the first, second and third option on the offensive end and will quite possibly push the 30-point mark in a loss, just as he did in a 117-112 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, on Friday.
