MLB Tuesday 19 April 2016

Welcome back to a quick preview to a couple of games I’m keen to bet into. It was a rough start to the week, taking my biggest loss over the last 3 season. With 2 games going down in extras, there is such a fine line in Baseball. The ride is half the fun. The predicted winners are going the right way, just about turning that into the profit as the season plays out.

Tuesday 19th

Best Bet – Reds/Rockies Total Runs o8.5 $1.78
Next Best – Cardinals $2.02
Mulit –  Mets/Jays  $3.04 (0.5u)

Philadelphia Phillies vs New York Mets (9.05am AEST)

Phillies ($2.50) –  Eickhoff (3-3, 2.65 ERA) 2015
Mets ($1.56)  – Syndergaard (10-7, 3.04 ERA) 2015

Prediction

Mets. After a walk off victory over the Nats last time out, the Phillies will look to build on a solid start to the season. It won’t be easy though, with a visiting Mets and Noah Syndergaard on the mound. He has been stellar so far this season in his 2 starts, going 13 innings giving up only 1 run. The Mets started offensively slowly but have managed to look better, with a nice series win in Cleveland. Jared Eickhoff is no slouch though, its been an impressive start to his MLB career, a 2.43 ERA over 10 starts and a BAA of .212. This game looks a low scorer, and anything can happen with them, but the edge goes to the Mets on the back of a better lineup that looks to be going back to last years form.

Suggested Bet –  Mets $1.56
Multi Filler –  Total Runs u8.5 $1.40

Cincinnati Reds vs Colorado Rockies (9.15am AEST)

Reds ($1.84) – Straily (0-1, 5.40 ERA) 2015
Rockies ($2.00)  – Lyles (2-5, 5.14 ERA) 2015

Prediction

Rockies. A series that should of plenty of home runs, being played in the Great American Ballpark. Dan Straily making a spot start, getting out of the bullpen, be interesting to see how deep he can go into the game. Likely the Rockies get to him before that becomes a case. Jordan Lyles has been pretty sluggish in 2016, only throwing 8 innings in 2 starts giving up 10 runs.  Although interesting enough no home runs. The Rockies bats will be swinging with the in form Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado. Last season in their 6 meetings the overs cashed 4 times. I’ll take that.

Suggested Bet –  Total Runs o8.5 $1.78
Multi Filler –  Total Runs o6.5 $1.33

St Louis Cardinals vs Chicago Cubs (10.00am AEST Live ESPN)

Cardinals ($2.02) – Leake (11-10, 3.77 ERA) 2015
Cubs ($1.83)  – Lackey (13-10, 2.77 ERA) 2015

Prediction

Cardinals. What an early season series, these games are going to matter in what looks to be a tight NL Central. John Lackey returns to St Louis where in 2015 he had a great season, he was money at Busch Stadium going 9-4 with a sub 2 ERA. 2016 has not been as good, he got touched up in his opening start but did bounce back for a solid 6 innings with only 2 runs in his last outing. Mike Leake has not had the start to his Cardinals career he would of wanted giving up 8 runs over 10 innings. He is much better than that though. Against the Cubs over the last 3 seasons he is 5-0 over 9 starts with a 2.69 ERA. Not bad at all. St Louis is starting to hit better after a sluggish start and I think they can get the number on their ex team mate. No doubts about it the Cubs have a mean lineup aswell, but I love the price on the Cards at home, you won’t get that much this year. First time meeting since last years NLDS, they Cards will be out for revenge. They went 7-3 at Busch Stadium last season against the Cubbies, and I think they take this series, here is hoping to game 1.

Suggested Bet –  Cardinals $2.02
