With the World Cup on, the sporting world turns its attention to Brazil. Let’s not forget about the other sports out there. The MLB is a long road and it’s going to keep on going and we are still going to find some plays, find some value and hopefully get on track to the winning ways we expect.
Best Bet – A’s -1.5 (2U) $2.35
Next Best – Over 8 Runs Miami/Pittsburgh $1.95 (1U)
Next Best – Tigers -1.5 (1U) $2.15
New York Yankees vs Oakland A’s (12pm AEST)
Yankees ($2.40) – Kuroda
A’s ($1.62) – Kazmir
Over/Under – Over 7 ($1.87) Under 7 ($1.95)
A’s. Kazmir is having a career year so far 7-2, ERA of 2.20 and a WHIP of 0.98. Oakland have lost only 2 games in which he has started and outscoring teams 78-25 on those 13 starts. A’s at home just know how to put up runs. Kuroda on the other hand 4-4 with an ERA of 4.12 has been woefully inconsistent not able to string together a run of good performances. In fact he has been pounded in 5 of his 13 starts, giving up at least 4 runs inside 6 innings. Pretty solid last start can he pitch 2 decent games in a row. Away against the hot bats of the A’s. Not for me. Yankees are not exactly a team full of runs, it seems like it’s just a Derek Jeter farewell tour. Well farwell Derek and farewell the ball over the A’s fence. After getting well beat on Saturday, Oakland to put up some runs and take this.
A’s -1.5 ($2.35)
Washington Nationals vs St Louis Cardinals (9am AEST)
Nationals ($1.77) – Strasburg
Cardinals ($2.10) – Miller
Over/Under – Over 6.5 ($1.80) Under 6.5 ($2.05)
Nationals. A pretty tough pitching match up to predict with these 2 classy pitchers. Strasburg has started to find his form and his 3 losses on the season were hard luck due to no run support. Miller is coming off a complete game 3 hit shutout against the hot Blue Jays, currently 7-5 with an ERA of 3.59, his record slightly skewed by 2 rough outings. He is better then that in terms of ERA and by the end of the season that ERA is going to be closer to 3.0. Nationals bats have been on fire, having a successful road trip in San Fran winning 3 of 4 and getting plenty of hits along the way. Cardinals have struggled to get runs and it has been a reason they trail in the NL Central. Going to predict a low scoring game with a pitchers duel being the highlights here. Don’t like to play unders on 6.5 line so will have to take Nats straight up to win.
Other Suggested Bets
Minnesota Twins vs Detroit Tigers (6am AEST)
Detroit are struggling and the Twins are playing some pretty handy baseball at the moment. Never going to put up huge runs they have really improved their pitching and have been on a nice little run of late. Tigers are treading water and they need to take some of these games against AL Central rivals. Cold bats at the moment but they have too many good players to allow that to continue. I predict a bit of an outburst from them today and am taking them -1.5. Too good to continue to slide, statistics over time don’t lie.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs Miami Marlins (6am AEST)
Pirates have one of the best outfields at the moment in Marte, Mc Cutchen and Polanco. They guys are on fire and I can see them putting up a few runs here. Marlins tend to hit well at home, and can put up runs. While Pittsburgh pitcher Morton has improved recently I think there is runs in this for both teams and will play the overs. Over 8 runs $1.95.
I will be back midweek with some more previews as we have some tasty match ups ahead of us.
