2017 Champion’s League – Quarter Finals

English Premier League - Football

The Champion’s League Quarter Finals return this week with the 2nd legs taking place. There was plenty to enjoy in the first legs and it has built up into what should be some great contests here to see who makes it through to the Semi Finals. There’s the romance and fairy tale of whether Leicester can do the unthinkable and make it through right down to Barcelona aiming for another big comeback against Juventus being 3 goals behind after the first leg. Going by the round of 16, anything can happen at this stage so it should make for some cracking contests this week.

Leicester vs Atletico Madrid

The unlikely Leicester have another great opportunity here to surprise us all and progress through to the quarter finals. They did themselves no harm to lose narrowly in the first leg 1-0 and will bank on their counter attacking style to get them through their home leg here and perhaps even push this one into extra time. The problem though is that it looks like it’ll be very difficult for them to break past this stern Atletico defence. Even if Leicester do break through, there’s way too much quality in this Atletico side for them not to break past Leicester’s own defences. This will be tight but expect Atletico to make it through to the next stage.

Predicted score: Draw 1-1
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals at $1.65 (85%)
Next Best: Atletico Madrid to win either half at $1.56

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich

This is a tough one for Bayern to be able to turn around being 2-1 down heading into an away leg. The sending off of Martinez in the first leg is where it really went wrong for Bayern and that’ll be something they’ll no doubt rue with 2 away goals for Real Madrid creating a huge obstacle for progression. Their recent run of form doesn’t look all too great either with 2 losses and a draw in their last 4 matches in all competitions. The added absences of Martinez to suspension and Hummels to injury makes it all the more difficult and right now it looks too much of an ask for them to make it through. There is of course the notable absence of Gareth Bale for the home side, but they have more than enough talent and quality to see them through this one.

Predicted score: Real Madrid 2-1
Best Bet: Real Madrid to score 2 or more goals at $1.67 (90%)
Next Best: Real Madrid to lead at Half-Time at $2.7

Monaco vs Borussia Dortmund

Predicted score: Monaco 3-1
Best Bet: Over 3.5 goals at $1.86 (80%)
Next Best: Monaco to win at $2.87

Barcelona vs Juventus

Predicted score: Draw 1-1
Best Bet: Half-Time Draw at $2.63 (75%)
Next Best: Under 2.5 goals at $2.78

Goal

As an Australian growing up AFL was always my no.1 sport especially given I was lucky enough to grow up a few blocks from Carlton’s home ground, Princes Park, where I was lucky enough to attend many games. That’s where my passion for sport began but it was until the early 2000’s when I discovered a real passion for football with the Socceroos 2002 World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay accelerating my football journey. From there I began to follow the Premier League and haven’t looked back since. These days I’m a massive Tottenham fan where I’ve enjoyed many sleepless nights religiously watching them without missing a game despite many roller coaster feelings. There’s just something magical and glamorous when you watch the EPL and knowing the Profits owners Drew and Euan through studies, I’m now lucky enough to be able to share my thoughts on each game each week of the season.
