2017 Champions League – Semi Finals – 2nd Leg

champions league

All things are pointing to a Juventus and Real Madrid Champions League Final as we head into the 2nd legs of the Semi Finals this week. Juventus managed a solid 2-0 away win at Monaco in a game where there was more expected of the home side. The other fixture saw rivals Atletico Madrid away at Real Madrid with the home side winning convincingly 3-0. There’s always the chance things can turn in the reverse fixtures this week but it would be quite a task for Atletico and Monaco to turn things around at this stage.

**Odds from Sportsbet as at 9th May

Juventus vs Monaco

With a 2-0 lead and those 2 goals being away goals, Juventus have a pretty commanding head start over Monaco in the reverse fixture here. Monaco really need to approach this with a nothing to lose attitude and that’s perhaps where they can be most dangerous. The problem though is that Juventus are not an easy side to breakdown at all, just ask Barcelona. Perhaps the way that this game will head though could mean that we do see a few goals. Monaco will surely come out in a pretty attacking fashion which will open up the door for Juventus on the counter but as attacking as Monaco will be, they could just fall short given the strength of Juventus’s attack.

Predicted score: Juventus 2-1

Best Bet: Juventus to win at $1.7 (85%)

Next Best: Juventus to lead at Half-Time at $2.1

Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid

Atletico wouldn’t have been happy at all after their first leg when they lost 3-0 after what was a vintage performance from Ronaldo scoring all 3. The end result of this one should be a lot different to the first leg but it’s difficult to see Real Madrid not moving through to the next stage. With a 3 goal buffer, Real Madrid can afford to absorb some pressure from Atletico as they look to push to fight their way back into the tie. It could very well mean that we see a low scoring contest here with Real looking to keep things tight at the back with no real urgency to push forward unless Atletico get a hop on them early.

Predicted score: Draw 1-1

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals at $2 (80%)

Next Best: Half-time Draw at $2.2

As an Australian growing up AFL was always my no.1 sport especially given I was lucky enough to grow up a few blocks from Carlton’s home ground, Princes Park, where I was lucky enough to attend many games. That’s where my passion for sport began but it was until the early 2000’s when I discovered a real passion for football with the Socceroos 2002 World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay accelerating my football journey. From there I began to follow the Premier League and haven’t looked back since. These days I’m a massive Tottenham fan where I’ve enjoyed many sleepless nights religiously watching them without missing a game despite many roller coaster feelings. There’s just something magical and glamorous when you watch the EPL and knowing the Profits owners Drew and Euan through studies, I’m now lucky enough to be able to share my thoughts on each game each week of the season.
