Sandown Form 7 February 2018

Horse Racing - Australia

Racing action heads back to Sandown for a 4pm start. It’s expected to get hot and humid today with a top of 36’c so expect a few horses to struggle with the conditions… and the course to dry out as the afternoon and races progress. As always, I hope your form matches up with mine. Good luck and happy punting

Sandown Race 4 – 1600m – BM-64
This is a race lacking in depth, especially on or close to the speed and I can see an advantage in a key runner here.
Kaptive Hero, Foxlago, Gretzky, Montevideo and Near Queue are all single figure odds and well represented in the market.
Foxlago will be going back today and Near Queue will either be going back or playing for luck midfield with the potential to be caught wide.
Montevideo will get a nice run on the rails buried away and is a chance today.
Kaptive Hero will push forward and be outside the leader, but personally i’m not convinced the horse or race it’s coming from is a strong as others here.
Gretzky worked hard early to lead last start over 2000m at Flem, now back to 1600m after tough run he appeals big time as an each way play here, the horse has early speed & fitness to lead which I hope Dunn does. The horse ran very well at course and distance to win two back leading all the way for a tough win.

Strategy: Gretzky 3 units Each-Way @ $5.00/$2.05

Sandown Race 7 – 1300m – BM-70
A strong form race with one standout that needs to be seen before it is believed on the day.
Weir has two internationals having their first Australian starts – Rostam looks an average at best type while Calibration looks the real deal – but is certainly a query at the distance – may need further.
Call Me Handsome is a nice type of horse and well in with a 3kg claim, but this stable just isn’t producing them at their best right now and i’d want to take it on at the odds.
Booradley is a horse of interest. I think we ignore last start and look to best runs previously including a run and win at this track… this horse seems to always run well and rarely misses a place. Maps on speed and will have control over the race.
Critical Thinking will be going forward with Booradley and won nicely first up at Ballarat. This is a horse with ability but the horse has to take another jump in grade to win this.
Kaching is a horse with a load of ability but a poor first up record and the horse will be getting a long way back in run.
Peaceful State is the proven quality runner in the race. Ended last prep with a 0.2L 2nd to Villermont at course over 1600m in the Sandown Guineas and won the previous race over 1400m. This horse will be suited just fine by the distance today, the price we get is for the barrier with a good ride needed to get in from the barrier. The massive query is just how fit does this stable have the horse – think Brave Smash at Moonee Valley two weeks back. I need to see it in the yard.

Comments: I won’t be betting until I get dickosmailbag.com MYM
Confidence 80%
Strategy: Peaceful State to win (only betting if Dicko has this horse in his top 3 horses from the yard).
