Jim Bolger has now won the Dewhurst Stakes fives times in the last seven years, as the unbeaten Dawn Approach battled to victory yesterday. Bolger nabbed two of the prizes on offer at Newmarket on Dubai Future Champions Day with stablemate Trading Leather winning the Group Three Autumn Stakes. Dawn Approach remains unbeaten with six victories to his name as just as two-year-old. His impressive display to this date means his price for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas next May has totally collapsed, now 5/2 favourite. Bookmakers even went as far as making him 5/1 for the Investec Derby. Sheikh Mohammed announced after his win that Dawn Approach would remain with the trainer next season. This decision, preceded by the battling victory of the 3-10 favourite, further cemented a unique relationship between Bolger and the Sheikh’s racing and breeding operation that has previously seen Bolger’s most talented performers moved to join the Dubai team.
