Sir Henry Cecil paid a fitting tribute to Frankel after the wonder horse returned to his birthplace Banstead Manor Stud yesterday. He will begin his new career as a stallion for Juddmonte Farms next year. The unbeaten star retires to stud as the winner of fourteen races. Trainer Sir Henry Cecil echoed just how good he was and that it’ll be hard to find one greater. He said: “He had the speed to be a champion sprinter and then, once he grew up and settled, he got a distance with a turn of foot that makes champions”. Frankel received a very warm welcome from the Juddmonte team, where they expect an annual roster of 100 mares charging £100,000 each time! It has been an emotional month for racing fanatics with the sad retirement of chasing legend Kauto Star, for Paul Nicholls.
