UK Horse Racing Form – Newcastle, Fakenham, Doncaster, Newbury, Dundalk and Wolverhampton– Friday 26

Horse Racing - Australia

With the ground and conditions ever changing the Racing Post Trophy on Saturday at Doncaster has been whittled down to just seven runners. Aidan O’Brien and the Ballydoyle connections will on Saturday attempt to replicate Camelot’s Racing Post Trophy victory of 12 months ago with Kingsbarns, the 7-4 favourite. Hot on his heels is the Jim Bolger-trained Trading Leather who gamely landed a Group 3 latest. Kingsbarns was just one of six entries to stand his ground at the declarations stage for Saturday’s Group One feature. Steeler also goes to post for Mark Johnston, with Richard Hannon fielding Van Der Neer. It’s 10/1 bar for what looks a competitive event. We are not convinced enough to take the short price about the jolly and advise you that if you are, a longer target of the Investec Derby might be a bit of value at 14-1 generally for Kingsbarns. The Irish-trained colt, Trading Leather, has the form in the book and does look a viable alternative.
