The Fugue was the best-backed horse of the night over at Santa Anita but endured a nightmare passage, eventually finishing seemingly full of running in third under William Buick. It sparked huge debate on twitter after Richard Hughes, suffered similar luck earlier on the card on Sky Lantern. The door was shut time and time again on The Fugue as Buick drove her up the inside. The tight track proving chaotic for European riders as the eventual winner smartly switched ride to endure a clear passage to victory. Richard Hughes will be disappointed having yet to break his Breeders Cup duck.
