The heaviest rain forecast for Ascot this week is due tonight but the track has ruled out changing the running order of Saturday’s card because of the possibility of testing ground. This was confirmed by Chris Stickels, the Clerk of the course. Frankel will appear in the Qipco Champion Stakes, the fifth of the six races on the card. The track is currently reported as ‘Soft’ and in good condition, with fresh ground that has been preserved since July. After tonight, light rain is forecasted for the rest of the week but a spokeswoman from the Met Office admitted ‘it’s a fairly mixed bag’.
