NBA Tips 20 December 2015

Hard times continued for The Big Dog, on a Saturday where many an experienced tipster could be found rocking back and forth, in the fetal position. Nothing we can do but put that behind us and move on. Only five games on offer today but there’s definitely enough to keep The Big Dog interested.

Chicago Bulls @ New York Knicks

You can throw all regular means of analysis out the window, when looking at this game. All that really matters is what happened yesterday. The Chicago Bulls played only the 13th quadruple-overtime game in NBA history and their first since March 1984, in a 147-144 loss to the Detroit Pistons. In a game that lasted an astonishing 3 hours and 24 minutes, every one of the Bulls’ starters logged season-highs in minutes, lead by their guard combo of Jimmy Butler (55:33) and Derrick Rose (54:13). After playing 48 minutes for 30 points and 15 rebounds, Pau Gasol will not be in the lineup today. In a stark contrast, the New York Knicks cruised to a 107-97 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, in a game where they were able to rest their starters for the entire fourth quarter. While Chicago are undoubtedly the better team, this will be their seventh match in eleven days, on top of the massive effort they produced last night. The fact that the line is only 1.5 points is absolutely staggering. Get all over the Knicks, who should run all over the top of the Bulls, especially in the fourth quarter.
