Tennis – 13 January 2017

Just the one play for today, after yesterday’s huge day.
Stay tuned later on if more plays arise, however I have a busy weekend ahead of me getting ready for Monday at the Australian Open.
Also, a huge thanks for all the interaction yesterday on twitter, it was quite a day!

Brady vs Stefkova

Stefkova is one of the players I will be keeping a very close eye on in 2017. At 21 years old, she is looking to work her way into the top 100 this year. She started the year ruthlessly in qualifying in Auckland, with 3 very strong performances before falling to Strycova in a tight 2 set match, where she certainly had her chances. I was surprised she continued on to Sydney qualifying, however, as a first round qualifying loss to Vekic meant she could get to Melbourne and prepare for Australian Open Qualifying. She started in style too, dropping only 3 games on the way to beating Alize Lim 6-3 6-0.

Brady on the other hand didn’t have everything go her own way in her first round, after leading by a set and 6-3 in the tiebreak, 5 straight points to Kamenskaya forced a 3rd set, which Brady was able to win 6-3. Although Brady is ranked 113, she has struggled at times taking any scalps at WTA level.

I have a very high opinion of Stefkova, and really cannot justify her current odds available as an underdog.

Suggested Bet
3.5 units Stefkova to defeat Brady at $2.36 at Pinnacle
