Welcome to the previews for Wimbledon Day 2, where we are looking to try and follow up a decent Day 1 performance if possible.

Albert Ramos vs Jordan Thompson

Suggested Bet: 4.5 units Thompson to defeat Ramos at $1.75 at Pinnacle

It is very hard to make a case for Ramos winning this match on grass today. Yes, he has put together some pretty impressive match results over the last 12 months, however none of those have come on the green stuff. You can ignore the Boodles exhibition match results as they are nothing more than match practice. When you look at the grass court form of Ramos, you notice that he has only won 4 matches on grass since 2010, with 2 of those coming here last year. Ramos was involved in a 5 set thriller vs Troicki last year, which ultimately ended up with Troicki involving himself in an absolute meltdown with the umpire very late in the match over a line call.

Jordan Thompson is putting together his finest year of tennis, with some incredible Davis Cup performances, as well as knocking off Andy Murray at Queens the other week. I have really been impressed with his weight of shot and his decision making more importantly. Had Thompson come up against a slightly bigger server I may have been a tad worried here, however I really think he matches up quite well against Ramos here.

Sebastian Ofner vs Thomaz Bellucci

Suggested Bet: 2 units Ofner first set winner at $2.50 at Bet365

Short and simple. This bet falls along the similar lines of Abanda yesterday against Nara. Happy to take the value price for a qualifier to get off to a strong start against a player who is not at their best on grass.

Dudi Sela vs Marcel Granollers

Suggested Bet: 3.5 units Sela -5.5 games at $1.87 at Pinnacle

One of these players is very proficient on the grass court. The other has won 3 ATP or Challenger level matches since the start of the year, and has won 4 of his last 15 matches on grass overall. I was expecting this line to be closer to 7.5 games, so I am more than happy to have a go at the -5.5 game total on offer for Sela here. If he brings a consistent game today, this should cover well.

Tsvetana Pironkova vs Sara Errani

Suggested Bet: 3.5 units Pironkova -5.5 games at $2.04 at Pinnacle

Very happy to oppose Errani on grass, especially with Pironkova putting together some decent results in the last few weeks. As soon as I saw the -5.5 games I knew I couldn’t pass this up. I see a really one sided set occurring here, especially if Pironkova plays to her level against Vondrousova, Niculescu or Halep in the past few weeks.

Bernard Tomic vs Mischa Zverev

Suggested Bet: 2 units Bernard Tomic to win at $1.90 at Bet365 ($1.87 at Pinnacle)

I have avoided Tomic throughout this year wherever I can, however I don’t mind siding with him in this match-up against Mischa Zverev in best of 5 set tennis. When you consider the following for each player, I am pretty comfortable siding with Tomic at the $1.90 available across the longer format. Another option is if you think Tomic may wilt if he falls behind, that backing him to take the first set may also be a reasonable option. All things considered, I think the form around Tomic is quite decent and he should be closer to $1.65 here in best of 5 set tennis.
